AS OF 5/21/2008:

1. Spitz/Central/Mizuno Mt. Washington Kingsolver and “Hair” bear return from last year’s 2nd place finish at the ASA Nationals. They will be joined by an Indiana, Ohio contingent lead by “Big Arm” John Kotzelnik and his Central Paving boys from Indy, and George Farris and Rusty Scott from the Cincinnati area.

2. MFAB/Team Insanity Covington 2nd at Bash Open and 2nd at 21-team B/C USSSA NIT losing in both to Ohio power,
Watanabe/Blitz.

3. B&C Miken Bowling Green Elton “Porky” Caffee got his ring last year at the “B” Nationals and Hooter’s Championship Series and is now back with a core of veterans from Indiana and Kentucky that are proven winners.

4. Bertie’s/Hub City/Easton Elizabethtown Elizabethtown’s rumors of their demise have been extremely over exaggerated. They won the Hooter’s with clutch hitting and above average infield defense and #1, the desire to win it!
5. Brooks Sports/Miken Louisville Youth has overtaken the one time 35 & Over Champs, and the young talent is learning very quickly how to use the newly legal Mikens.

6. Softball Times/Worth/Tanel Lexington Giving up too many big innings but starting to get better each weekend. Will see how good they are at the Ball Diamond.

7. Novelty Frankfort Much improved with Gary “Grimmie” Grimshaw at the reigns and a group of younger players as their nucleus.

8. Riverside/Reds/Allied Tools/Astros/Boombah/TPS
Duckhead and beyond.......The sponsors in this novel-of-a-name have written many softball stories over the last 4 decades and their 40 & over roster makes up the characters that starred in those stories.

9. Team Elite Cadiz Struggling early without Randall Ramage and Trevor Parker but should improve around summer with a full squad.

10. Chiefs Cadiz A mixture of veterans picked from 5 or 6 teams last year that have changed sponsorship like Atlantis, Team Explosion, etc.

11. Pipefitters Elizabethtown Super Slugger Dewayne Nevitt is pitching so do not hit it back up the middle at him unless you’re ready for his retaliation. This club highly resembles Steinert’s of a couple of years ago.

12. Miken Merchants Springfield Props to these men who haven’t whined about playing “B”, rather they worked over the winter to get better. One run loss to Hub City at Hooter’s shows they will be a force all season.

13. Problem Drinkers Louisville Defending 2007 NSA “D” National title holders get off to qick start earning the cash at the Bash and winning another early bird tourney before being humbled by JLC/countrywide at the Hooter’s.
14. Standifer & Sons/Shelby Merchants Shelbyville......... 2nd year squad already seeing improvement as evidenced by hooter’s finish. It’s good to see some new faces in the Central Kentucky area.

15. Kentucky Steel Erectors London Jared “Rock” Rigney and Daniel Bays highlight a roster that looks somewhat similar to that of Southern Belle’s from the past couple of seasons.

16. JLC Countrywide Florence Hooter’s in Lexington is one of only a couple of times these USSSA specialists make a road trip away from the Cincinnati area.

17. Dizzy Roosters Louisville Bright green is the color of choice for the best name in the Top 20. With Joe Sutherland on the mound, they should be in every game regardless of the class or association they choose to play in.

18. CKS/Airmasters Morehead Gary Brown and the Randell twins back in familiar uniforms with a surrounding cast that looks a lot like Ransen of 2007.

19. Southern Belle Somerset Another victim of move up rumors over the winter. “Hot Dog” Childers and company simply could not afford the necessary bucks needed to travel and play on the “B” circuit so they had to trim down their roster.

20. Bond Dodgers McKee Dandy Don is at it again and he has another team talented enough to capture a “C” title come early August.
