Robert “Red” Moore
Verona, Kentucky
Manager
June 5, 2010
At age thirteen while playing B League Knothole baseball Red was asked to try out to be a Cincinnati Reds ball boy. He did and went on from there to become involved in softball in a myriad of ways – highlighted by his ability to play the game, organize players, leagues and umpires among other things. In 1971 he was asked to manage a team at L&N
Railroad and he progressed from being a player/manager to just a manger as the enjoyment he had for putting together competitive teams overcame his desire to play. To date he has been managing teams for most of the past forty seasons, taking off only to take care of family members who suffered health problems. In the last seven seasons alone Red’s teams have finished in the top ten in sixteen national or world tournaments, highlighted by three Runners- Up finishes, twice in 2004 and once in 2007. Through sheer force of will and determination, he has managed to bring to his 35 & over and 40 & over teams some of the very best veteran players of the game. In 2008, Red was inducted into the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame and the NSA National Hall of Fame. He was inducted into the Northern Kentucky Softball Hall of Fame this year. Red espouses all of the very best qualities of an individual who loves the game, gives 100% of himself to his co-sponsors, coaches & players and manages to compete while still making it possible for all of his team to have fun playing the game. We are proud and privileged to be able to induct Robert “Red” Moore into the Kentucky Softball Hall of Fame.
